Our story., Shanes story.

My family-minus 1.

On saturday Jack and three of his classmates made their confirmation and a lovely day was had by all. Even in these times of mistrust in the catholic church (sorry mam) the priest and the bishop were lovely, very kind and had all the kids laughing at their attempts to be cool but the kids were laughing with them, and not at them! All the aunts, uncles and cousins came and a great time was had by all.

I had thought about taking a family photo since it’s the first big ocasion since Shane has died but I just can’t do it, because I don’t have a family anymore, I have a “family-minus 1” and that’s never going to change. We took lots of photos of Jack and his cousins, and friends on the gladiator thingy out in the back garden but someday soon when I can get my head around it, I will take a family-minus 1 photo, but not just yet…maybe next time!

Shane was always the life and soul of the party and would have had a great time, he would have made Jack feel so special and would have driven all the kids mad and had them all hyper at the same time. His other big brothers did a great job chasing the younger ones around and there was only one who went home with an (unintentional) black eye…well actually her brother inflicted it, so can’t be 100% sure it wasn’t intentional, sorry Clars!

That’s my ramblings done for the day and our new reality of a “family-minus 1”.
